What is Community Integration?
Our entire mission is premised on community-based services and giving people with mental illness the tools they need to live independently. Rockhill Academy for Independent Living will adapt, equip and prepare program participants for the independent living arrangement of their choice. Rockhill Academy strives meet the changing needs of people with mental illness so they can move to or stay in their community.

Our Community Integration Process will create and sustain opportunities within the local community for those working toward independence.

Rockhill Academy for Independent Living is working to make these goals a reality by working on several fronts at once:

  • Improved academic skill sets
Clear, basic understanding of skill sets including ethics, history, English skills, budgeting and goal setting competence and basic socialization skills

  • Developed skills that increase employability
    - Clearly developed cooperative learning techniques (teamwork)
    - Literacy and numeracy are necessary job skills; this outcome is directly related to the improved academic skill sets.
    - Adults with an adequate foundation of basic educational skills should be able to upgrade their vocational skills and knowledge in order to maintain their employability and earnings growth potential.
    - Realized development of self-esteem; results in desire and motivation needed to find, maintain and develop needed job and personal care skills.

  • Job readiness
